Vilmar, I think perhaps instead of cropping so you still have the whole stamp, just crop around the small area where the '9' in question is, leaving a bit of stamp remaining around it. That way the image will stay at 1200 dpi and not have to be reduced so much.

Scanning at 1200 and reducing is like scanning at 600 or even lower, not as good.

Ah, I can see it now, just had to wait on my slow connection for Anthony's pics to load. Nice.

Also you can see the perfin a lot better when the colours are just black and white. That is a good thing to know. Helps.

having these little tricks to make seeing the details easier is a big help also to new collectors to this area who are over-whelmed by al the detail work required. When you know how to do something it seems a lot easier.

Now I can go and look at the page of older GB in that 1894 album I have been avoiding up to now!
