Giovanni da Verrazzano (also spelled with only one "z," 1485-1528) was a Florentine explorer of North America. The Verrazano–Narrows Bridge is a double-decked suspension bridge that connects the boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn in New York City. Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting both the explorer and the bridge, designed by Italian artist Renato Mura, printed by photogravure, and issued by Italy on November 21, 1964 as one of a set of two similar stamps commemorating the bridge's opening day, Scott No. C138. Note: At the time of its completion, the Verrazano–Narrows Bridge, with a central span of 4,260 feet (1,298 m), was the longest suspension bridge in the world.

Dragon bridge, Ljubljana, Slovenia

original name: Jubilee Bridge of the Emperor Franc Jozef I
name: Dragon Bridge
type: arch
build: 1901
material: concrete
span: 33,34 m

The Dragon Bridge, originally named Jubilee Bridge (Jubilejni most), is one of Ljubljana's most typical examples of Art Nouveau architecture. It is Slovenia's first bridge paved with asphalt, Ljubljana's first reinforced concrete bridge and one of the earliest reinforced concrete bridges in Europe. The Dalmatian architect Jurij Zaninoviæ designed the Bridge's decorative concrete covering, balustrades and sheet-copper dragon statues, which became a symbol of Ljubljana.
