The Svatopluck Cechuv Bridge has not only very decorative lamp posts but also columns with victory figures at each end. The bridge dates from the early part of the past century and lies just down river from the old center of town.

The Manes Bridge lies just down river from the Charles Bridge and is one of the busy road bridges of Prague. The stamp belongs to the 1978 set.

The bridge just upriver from the Charles bridge has changed its name several times: built at the turn of the century (1899-1901) it was called the bridge of Franz I, then Smetana bridge, then bridge of the 1st of May and now bridge of the Legions. The bridge crosses the Moldau at the level of Strelecky island. The original bridge at this site was completely different and proved to be inadequate for heavy traffic and streetcar. The towers on the new bridge were toll houses.

Bridge midday Pick (Pont de l'Aiguile du Midi) - France. Alp Aiguille du Midi (Aiguille du Midi) in the western part of the massif of Mont Blanc. To get to the bridge connecting the two rocks together, you need to climb by cable car to the 2000-meter height. The bridge itself is very short, but those who suffer from acrophobia, he can seem endless!

The Alps have many roads and bridges that take your breath away, and that one up in the French Alps is pretty amazing. The old path in the Valley d'Annivers became a road on which even postal buses could travel, taking passengers along. The stamp belongs to the set honoring engineering, 1949.

Hello Alexey, In the 1939 stamp with the lovely lady one sees the bridge and the center of Fribourg with the church. The Perrolle bridge is a bit out of town, so I was wondering if it could be the Zaehringer bridge in the stamp instead. Both were built in the first half of the past century and have similar arches, but the Zaehringer bridge is much shorter and in view of the St. Nicolas Cathedral. In the first photograph you see the brand new bridge in the background and the Zaehringer bridge in town. (I also found a picture of its construction.) The lower photograph shows the Perrolles bridge. They all cross the Saane River.

Yesterday was Earth Day within Earth Month, this motif seems to fit very well. The small bridge in these setenant stamps of Portugal could be anywhere. The Kingfisher has a healthy environment, the gull does not. UN Conference on Environment and Development, Rio declaration of 1992.

Perhaps the most famous alpine rail, 1882, and road crossings are those over the Gotthard. The stamp of 1936 (similar to the one on page 8 of 1934) has a view down-valley in the Biaschino gorge. In the photograph the view is up-valley and includes the local road as well as the newer highway, 1983. (I don't know how many trains are in the picture, the loops in the tracks are quite long.)

The stamp of 1957 shows less detail than the earlier one, but does include one of the many tunnels. The photograph shows a section of the Matterhorn-Gotthard stretch of the route.

Nowadays the longest tunnel of Europe (57+ kilometers) is complete, the stamps of 2016 commemorate the grand opening in June. These stamps are quite unusual because the mountain cutaway has a very fine coating of Gotthard dust!

This US stamp, 1995, shows the wreckage of a very famous bridge. It is the bridge at Torgau, on the Elbe, on which American and Russian military met for the first time on the 25th of April, 1945. They had met a bit up-river at Strehla shortly before but the official meeting was in Torgau, 27th. Lucas Cranach, 16th century, portrayed the old wooden bridge with the Hartenfels castle in the background and a postcard of the 1940s shows what the historical bridge looked like (both pictures done from the eastern bank of the river). The bridge was renovated but finally completely removed in the 1990s; the new concrete bridge is located only a few meters upstream from the old.

(Hello Alexey, Where is the town and river in your four stamps? K.)

Hello, Chris. I keep forgetting that Cyrillic is a problem! This is the city of Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria, a bridge across the Yantra.
