Not exactly "socked on the nose" but "socked on the margin" first day of issues. I have no idea why anyone bothered to do this, but I have a couple of hundred of these stamps (not my creation; they were given to me.)

To each their own, I guess, in terms of what people like to collect.

Since no one has specified that "socked on the nose" cancels had to refer to postal usage, I submit these US Revenue examples with "socked on the nose" cancels from these respective insurance companies:

> Franklin Fire Insurance, Philadelphia, PA (08/17/1863)
> NY Mutual Insurance Co., New York, NY (11/14/18??)
> Sprague, Soule & Co., Boston, MA (03/23/1869)

Can't help you with the postmark, Wt1, but I can tell you Towcester is pronounced "Toaster" . A funny lot, the English...
