jhlowell, Paulis or later Ópálos is now in Romania (Romanian name-Păuli#537;). Pmk code (according Gudlin: Classic Postmarks of Hungary) is E3.20. It gets 80 points, meaning that is a ,more sought` pmk (well, that means no significant bonus- but it`s a nice clear pmk) |

My resources for French cancels are thin, but I have a note that the PP cancels are Imprimés, for printed matter and Journaux, for newspapers.
Absolutely subject to correction... |

One socked, one not. Mauritius, socked at Forest Side. Then, a red London Registered mark, too, not well socked at all. Still, nice to catch it on the stamp. The stamp was issued December 13, 1899, marking the birth bicentennial of a former governor of Mauritius, Labourdonnais. So this stamp sat around for a couple years before being used. |

Here's a "bullseye" first day cancel. I doubt you can get more "bullseye" than this! |

I made about 14 of these back in 1984. Carefully placing the stamps and praying...: ,_02,_Bullseye_FDOI_centered_on_stamp,_14_made.jpg) |
