Good morning readers. Three for today.
Hydesville, (the correct spelling, un-like the mis-spelled RPO I posted 4 days ago), a busy place. Postmaster compensation reported for 1877 (year this was mailed) was $224.97 Opened Aug 27 1861....OPEN.

Speaking of RPOs, Ukiah & San Fran. RPO,

and Willits to Sweden.

Good morning. I found 5 postmarks for today, but I've posted two of them (Point Arena and Covelo) back on Dec. 11, 2016. Here.

https://goscf.com/t/11887&whichpage=130#451650

Acquired the other three (two torn) after I stopped posting in this thread, they are;

Navarro Ridge, even though the cover has a manuscript Navarro, the office name didn't shorten the name until Nov. 23 1888.
This name was used for 3 different offices;
Navarro Ridge Aug 7,1867 -- Nov 22, 1888
Navarro Nov 22, 1888 -- Mar 31, 1902
Postmaster compensation for 1869 and 1871 was $12.00.
Wendling changed name to Navarro Mar 19, 1914 --Mar 9, 1967.
This is the first time I've seen the year date in cursive.

Mendocino,

and a Slogan cancel on a Eureka corner card.

New York City to Alger, Algeria 1942

NEW YORK, N.Y. 14 DE 730 PM 1942

There was a false start for this item on December 14 as not enough postage was affixed. However, there was a successful launch the following afternoon.

Back again, a single postmark (previously posted) for yesterday,
Bulwinkle,

Two today, the first is a postal card that should not be, a UX1 with a N Pacific RPO, a San Francisco carrier, and an Ukiah dateline! You'll need to see both sides.
I'm guessing S. J. Chalfaut carried the card with him for a few days before mailing.
According to Jim Forte's post office list, there are two towns named Ukiah in the US, the largest of them is the county seat of Mendocino County, the other (in Oregon) named after the first.
The RPO catalog listing for N Pacific;
North Pacific R.P.O., 417 miles, Duluth. Minn. to Bismarck, D.T., Northern Pacific Ry. 874-K-1: N. Pacific R.P.O., 26.5, black, Banknote, R Ill

and another cover from Ukiah, an up-rated double weight PSE to Germany.

edit to add Oregon note.

HAMILTON
16DEC68B
BERMUDA

On this date in 1968, one P. Greenshields had the good fortune to purchase over 24 copies of the 3d. Bermuda Mexico Olympic issue with the color brown missing. He had the good foresight to affix a few to covers on that day, mailing them to himself at P.O.Box 525. The second image is of a vertical pair of SG 220a. The first image is a vertical couple, one being the normal SG 220 and the other the variety.

Mr. Greenshields got lucky because he was just buying some stamps ahead of Christmas. The Mexican Olympic issue for Bermuda was issued on September 24, and Greenshields chose a commemorative issue for his mailing rather than the regular Building series stamp. Thanks, Mr. Greenshields, for putting some on cover!

Two postmarks this morning and a little Humboldt RPO information.
As I mentioned earlier, Humboldt County developed their RPO program in isolation, there were 4 RPOs before the line was connected to Northwestern Pacific. They were Eureka & Hydeville, Eureka & Scotia, Arcata & Elinor, and Atcata & Dyerville.

Eureka & Scotia , Ca., 29 miles, Eel River & Eureka RR (NWP) Jun 17 1895-*Sep 29 18 years
The Eel River & Eureka RR connected to Alton and Scotia. Became the Eureka & Scotia RPO.
985-M-1: Eureka & Scotia R.P.O., 27.5, black, 1898, R Ill
985-M-2: Eureka & Scotia R.P.O., 30, black, 1908, T.N., R Ill

and an incoming postcard for Hardy, which Hardy marked.

Edit to add missing bracket ]

Go figure! After all these years, I still only have the one Dec 19 postmark, posted it 9 years ago, but didn't edit my text very well, so I'll try again.

Gualala, to Ornbaum, both the southernmost towns in Mendocino County. Looking at my 1914 Mendocino County map, Gualala is at the western end of Fishrock Road, and Ornbaum is at the eastern end. Positively the worst paved road in the county. Even the road to Usal (dirt) in the Lost Coast is a better road!
