stallzer, very nice pair!

I've only found two for Jan 17, 1 here. Front of card has a Southern Pacific McKeen Motor railcar and Mail car trailer, and I included the layout of the mail car.

and Gualala's doane postmark. Highest Type 3 in these two counties.

Only three this morning, but with background information.
The first is where I begin collecting RPOs.
Aug 1 1882 was supposedly the changeover date from route agent service to R.P.O. service on all lines. However, the changeover took considerable time and it was not until about 1886 that the R.P.O. system marking became the normally used device.
The San Francisco and North Pacific Railroad began the extension of their 30 mile line from Sausalito/Petaluma line in 1869,
reaching Santa Rosa (18 miles) in 1870,
and Cloverdale (32 miles) in 1872.
The Cloverdale and Ukiah RR (30 miles) was begun in 1886 and completed in May 1889.
Ukiah to Willits, 24 miles in 1902.
Eureka was finally connected on Oct 23 1914.

Three today, all here.

Yorkville's 2nd commercial ornate post marker, MEN-4210, California Town Postmarks 1850 - 1935 records the use as May 25 1886 to Nov 1 1990. Some where I came across 1890 census records that included 24 Mendocino county towns, Yorkville = 27. Postmaster compensation for 1885 was $57.56.

Willits,

Eureka & Scotia RPO,

Three today, beginning with
Kibesillah, which used their second (of two) commercial post markers, a two line oval town and county marker, but it's kinda faint,

a Eureka Registered letter that shows an early use of Eureka's Registered Postmark (Hum-1820, recorded use from Feb 25,1907 to June 19, 1907) and a straight-line Eureka on the stamp,

and a postcard from Rohnerville.

Five postmarks with today's date this morning.

Mendocino,

Eureka,

Eureka,

Point Arena, glad Nora didn't have to swim Alder Creek!

and Little River. The Little River post office used this postmark (Men-2140) from April 1906 to January 1915, when the office combined the two names into one as seen in Yesterday's post (Men-2150) Under USPOD new guidelines, I think.

edit to add note abut Nora.
