Little late entry for 5/17 but didn't want anyone to think it was just FDC... And one for the 18th. Sad about the glue on the envelope. Any clues as to how to/ if possible to fix? |

As it relates to that private cover dated 5/17/1923 addressed to a Miss Annie G. White of Webster Groves, MO...I just looked it up and quite by accident stumbled across a web site for the State of Missouri that actually had a copy of her death certificate on-line. What are the chances of that? Anyway, to summarize, her full name was Annie Gertrude White. She was born on December 1, 1873 in Ware, MA and died on May 11, 1940 at Webster Groves, MO at age 66. Martial Status: Single. Occupation: Schoolteacher. Daughter of Charles E. White and Mary (Kohler) White. |

I have not found any correspondence from my great-grandparents but, on the weekend, I did find a passenger list with my great-grandmother and four little children, travelling on the bark Concordia, from Oslo with the destination of La Crosse, Wisconsin, in May of 1872. It landed, by the way, in Quebec, which was one good reason it took me so long to find any records. Apparently, a lot of Scandinavian immigrants went to the USA via Canadian ports at that point in time. I digress. I do have a cover for the 19th. It may even be an FDC for the sheet, though I am not sure, because the date is smack in the middle of the range printed on it. But it is the commemorative postmark in any case. |

Yes, you do have the First Day of Issue cancel for the Souvenir Sheet 948. Here's an example of an elaborate oversized cacheted cover that was made for that issue: |

not sure what exactly you're trying to point out here... My covers aren't quite what they seem or .???? Sorry, they've been in the family too long for me to question the origin. No one left to talk to.
