A New Zealand Cover with a commemorative set recognizing a Commonwealth Conference. Actually, that would be a good theme for a do-able topical display. It's quite limited because it includes only Commonwealth countries (I think) and in the early years at least they were only recognized by the hosting country, if at all. |

Love these very precise Swiss cancellations. A "B" issue on cover for the 27th. |

Here's my submittal for November 28th. You may have noticed that I posted this example on another thread as curiously, the Scott Specialized Catalog of US Stamps does not recognize this date for a First Day of Issue cancellation for this Official Mail Window Envelope (that were used to mail US Savings Bonds): |

A very neat commemorative postmark from November 28, 1947 used to recognize the Royal Marriage of Princess Elizabeth in that year. I do not know how long it was in use not do I know how many Post Offices actually used it. That might be something that some of the British Specialists could answer. |

Don't brush off that seemingly "simple" cover with the Germantown Academy Bicentennial slogan cancel on a "common" Abraham Lincoln definitive stamp. I was just reading the history of that school and came up with this paragraph that connects the two: Quote: It was natural for a school that had been a part of the colonial period of American history to choose red, white, and blue as her colors. However, in 1865 the white was changed to black as a tribute to the assassinated President Abraham Lincoln and to the Academy boys who had served their country in the war. The colors remain red, black and blue today. |

And another for the 30th from a different corner of the world. Second Class Airmail? Probably a Christmas Card from Burma. Finally, another FDC from New Zealand with the Commonwealth Conference theme I suggested a few days back. |

Two entries for December 2nd. The first is a cover from Washington, DC to Paris, France mailed in 1897 (cancelled with both a duplex hand stamp and a Barry rectilinear machine cancel with diagonal lines). The second is a postcard with Nazi censor markings mailed from Kladno, Czechoslovakia to the U.S. in 1940. |

Something different for Dec 4th (or 5th - It's both). A clear as a bell House of Commons cancellation but no stamp and no Free Franking as an MP. Therefore Postage Due cancelled December 5th. I just regret that the Green HandStamp was not clearly defined. |

Here is an interesting little card from India. The receiving Post Office has a clear 5th of December marking but I am not so certain about the issuing date. Perhaps the 3rd? |

Backroads, I love that House of Commons cancel with the postage due. Nice to know your civil servants are going out of their way to make your life easy. Some things never change. |
