Thanks. I probably should have looked that up in the Scott Catalog to note that there were two different varieties of that aerogramme, the one scanned being issued on December 13, 1971.

Actually, now that I look at it I do think this variety requires a bit more explanation. The reference in the cachet stating "Corrected Version" is a bit misleading, as no error and later correction was involved; the reference really should have read "Modified Version".

In fact, while the Scott Catalog notes the difference between these varieties is limited to the word "AEROGRAMME" added to the description, and the folding instruction changed from all capital letters (UC44) to both upper and lower case letters (UC44a), as noted in the Postal Bulletin of 12/9/1971, there was a bit less obvious modifications made as well (see yellow highlight):

Since the Scott Catalog fails to mention these more subtle differences, I wonder how many collectors overlook these details (unless, of course, you are a postal stationery specialist)?

I'm late for December 14 but this is one of my favorite post cards so I wanted you to see it.

December 14 1916 to a prisoner of war camp in Le Havre, France.

The ships on the horizon are drawn in pencil.

Le Havre was a major entrance and exit point for British, American and Australian troops in WWI. It's located not far from Flanders Fields. There were several bases there for deploying troops and at least 5 hospitals for caring for the wounded and sending them home. In 1915 the POWs were housed on 2 ships in the harbor and later at least 2 POW camps were located at Le Havre.

Those are interesting slogan cancels "ENERGY//FOR A//POWERFUL AMERICA" and NASA's 25th Anniversary. I don't recall seeing either one before, and find it especially unique that they were both used so close to the holiday season. I don't think there are many of those slogan cancels around, as I would expect that they saw limited use.
