Oops...we have a problem here.

The first cover posted by Kehess above is incorrectly stated to be December 8, 1921. That would be impossible.

Note that the cover has postmarked the Liberty Bell/Sesquicentennial Exhibition Stamp (Scott 627) that was not issued until May 10, 1926. Therefore, I believe a closer study of the dated postmark will reveal it's either 1926, 1928 or 1929.

I would further suggest that the fact that it was postmarked with a slogan cancel reading "Air Mail Saves Time" would date that cover to at least 1928. I don't know if Minneapolis used that slogan cancel early, but according to the catalog of slogan cancels for Washington, DC, the earliest known use (EKU) of the "Air Mail Saves Time" slogan cancel was not until August 23, 1928 in Washington, DC, and I would not expect that other cities used it much, if any, earlier. Perhaps a postmark specialist can chime in and confirm that for us.

In any event, the idea that the cover is dated 1921 is most certainly incorrect.

Uh oh! Magnified, it looks most like 1929 to me.

My eyes are not the best. Plus the gaps in my knowledge are enormous.

Thank you, wt1, for the ongoing education! I hope I'll be catching these things on my own at some point. No doubt then there will be something else I'll miss. Learning is much of the fun of collecting!

Forgive my tardiness on this December 9 cover, I was tired last night.
A 1931 postmark from Edmonton featuring Santa Claus commiserating with His Majesty (U31).

And for today December 10 two Libery series SC#1035a (booklet pane) tied in with a 1960 Christmas seal.

December 11 1880 from Valley Creek MN to Flandreau in Dakota Territory

Flandreau is the county seat of Moody County SD. South Dakota achieved statehood in 1889. S L Hess might have been Samuel L Hess, who served as a member of South Dakota's first State House, representing Flandreau from 1889-1890.

Valley Creek MN is a DPO in Washington County; its specific location has been forgotten. The creek itself still exists in the St Paul suburbs of Woodbury and Afton.

In those days Stillwater was one of the largest cities in Minnesota. I live in Stillwater, now a suburb of St Paul.

What's the story behind the reference "Corrected Version" on the 15-cent aerogramme shown above? Does it have to do with the aerogramme itself or was it possibly the cachetmaker's error?

The aerogramme is a UC44a. The word AEROGRAMME was added to the inscription.
