Here's a period news article about Aerial World Tours trying to obtain a plane for this planned flight:

The story is recited here, too:

I have this stamp in my Newfoundland collection. I purchased it a long time ago, MNH at the time. Very nice stamp, even if unissued.

Off topic.

Any idea why the town was called "Wayzata"?
One version is that it is derived from a Lakota Sioux phrase meaning "North Shore".
In the book of Esther (the Bible), the name of the smallest sons of Haman was "Vaizatha", which translates in old Persian to "Best given".
Wayzata \ Vaizatha = Coincidence?

Obtained a block of these recently, and I am glad to find this helpful information on Stamp Community. I have heard of other stamps being in some fashion authorized by a stamp issuing authority, but not issued in the country, and still achieving some level of legitimacy. However, this issue has clear overtones of speculation. Has the Newfoundland collecting community arrived at a consensus?
In my humble opinion, they are great looking, and am glad to have this bit of 'spice' in my Newfoundland collection.
I do appreciate the info. The latest link to ASDA by jogil is still good.
