Likely a revenue or official stamp from the late 1800's, France I believe. Please advise.

Thank you,

I identified this one here, day before yesterday.

Engraved by French engraver of the Turkish "Dulos" types,
Pierre Edelestand Stanislas Dulos (1820-1874)

I see in Yvert et Tellier that there were two types of this value.

I believe this one is the second where the values have different shapes, see for example the shape of the two figures "2" at the foot.

Hi Rod, It's nice to see more references to our friend Monsieur Dulos!

By the way, I read the quote you gave above as saying that the cliché for the projected telegraph stamps were produced by Dulos's method from the original Dimension stamp die, rather than Dulos specifically having engraved either phoenixops's stamp tor the die for the first Dimension series.

He could well have engraved those too so sorry if I'm reading too much into this one quote.

Sadly my old Y&T catalogue is rather mean with background information and has quite poor illustrations.

I must admit though that it's very useful to have a reference that covers French revenues well beyond Forbin's 1915 cut-off date.

I just noticed that my Y&T catalogue has a picture on its front cover of what I assume is a die proof of this design.

It's printed in green and the two spaces for the value at the bottom are blank.

Hi Nigel,
nice catch !

Original Poster Phoenix's image is a differing colour as well.
Well spotted with the numeral 2's

All images here have the "dulos" name engraved on.

I think the Author of the Duloz-Dulos piece, is suggesting the Telegraphs
were also of his "method"

I agree with you.

I thought I had a French telegraph when I first read about them, but dashed if I can find it, possibly in one of my "Cinderella" albums.

I feel rather pleased we have finally given voice to Mr. Dulos' achievements,
I hope he is up there somewhere, smiling.....

One more question ...

... is this stamp represented by a Scott catalog number?

I think not.
French revenue, possibly addressed by the catalogue shown by Nigel,
or Michel perhaps.
