Oldenburg 1861 3g yellow - nice cancel! But what is 'Abbehaus'? I can't find a place called Abbehaus anywhere - though there is apparently a hotel in Jena called the Ernst Abbe-haus. Does anyone know whether this is an authentic cancel or how I could go about finding out?

Actually, it seems that this stamp is a fake: this exact same cancel is listed in the Fournier album. See:

Side note: Abbehaus translates to Priest house

What I don't understand is why a forger would not copy a real cancel or at least use the name of a place that actually exists.

It is almost certainly Abbehausen, which is a real location. (The centering of the date calls for a few more letters...)
