On another recent thread, I had referred to the Sinclair Oil Company and the "Dino" dinosaur logo. Although that brand has long departed my area of the country, they are still in business in other regions of the US and I just went to their website which has a very detailed history of the company and their logos, from which I take this quote:

Quote:
Perhaps the Sinclair Refining Company's most successful single promotion was the issuance in 1935 of a dinosaur stamp album which could be filled only with colored dinosaur stamps issued one at a time weekly at service stations. The first printing of albums was distributed through dealers within 48 hours after a single network radio broadcast of the offer. The final totals were 4 million albums and 48 million stamps. During this period, company sales increased substantially.

Anyone on SCF have an example of the album or the stamps that were part of this promotion?

A "Google Image Search" came up with this, which I think are probably part of the collection of the dinosaur stamps referred to:

We still have a few Sinclair stations in this area. One station about 45 miles from me still has the old green brontosaurus in front.

Apparently the Rogethesaurus is the
scarce and valuable label of the set.

Now that would be a cool looking stamp album. I bet the Sinclair "Dino" looked pretty neat on the cover. I would get one if I ran across it. Were the stamps redeemed for merchandise or gasoline?
