I was looking at some cinderellas on covers advertised on a web site and came across these two (there are others in the series) that I have never seen before. Since they were accompanied by legal US postage of the day (6 cents in 1971), they went through the mailstream, but the idea to use the term "U.S. Postage" even with the bar through the corner, seems as if it would be frowned upon by authorities.

Nevertheless, does anyone have any info. as to the reason for these cinderellas?

This type tend to be satires & politcal statements.

The french fries stamp is pure satire.

There are more of these out there then you may know of, most created by stamp artist.
