Another nice stamp.
Based on a painting in the Louvre. She is playing an instrument, a type of bass lute with an extended neck that is known as a theorbo. Thanks for posting the sheet! |

Gibby01, thanks for the great French sheet you posted! Here is the stamp in high resolution. It shows the painting "The Delicate Musician", by the French painter Jean-Antoine Watteau, Louvre museum, Paris. The stamp engraved by Pierre Gandon and issued by France on September 22, 1973: I scanned the detail shows the musical instrument in high resolution: |

Quote: ok, not a stamp but is a program from what looks to be a Musical stamp designer and engraver show at the French postal museum in 1979. Front cover and some of the contents.
Thanks Gibby for posting this brochure. Here is the issued stamp shows the 15th century miniature painting "The Lady with Swans", designed by Pierrette Lambert, engraved by Claude Haley and issued by France on January 13, 1979: I scanned in high resolution the area shows the musical instrument. I can'r recognize it and maybe there is some information on your brochure: |
