I did too. That is probably meant to be an angel and choir to the right.
I find the wallpaper or tapestry in the background interesting.
And where is the mother? Left strewn upon the bed exhausted from her labour. |

Wonderful stuff gals and guys! Went searching through my Swedish album looking for other gems, aside from the ones already posted, and found these (not my scans... from this site: http://www.postmuseum.posten.se/frimbas/adv9.asp - look up Facit number): 1994 - J.H. Roman and the Gothenburg Opera, engraved by Martin Mörck From their Millenium series in 1998-2000:Jazz charleston: Singers: Alice Babs and Jussi Björling: ABBA |

Quote: Andrew I like the two engraved stamps from Sweden
I can't get enough of the Swedish engravings. When I first got some Swedish stamps, I was selective. Then I saw the engravings in front of me and decided I had to try to find as many of them as possible. Nowadays, my 60 page album is a mess and I need to re-organize everything by year again because I didn't leave enough spots for everything! The 2006 set is also beautiful. |

I like Scandinavian countries stamps. I collected Greenland that I sold a month ago. I have an Iceland collection and i'd like to collect all others in the future. But hope I can afford to fulfill my wish. Except for early classical stamps I collect mainly mnh stamps so it's a bit more expensive. Daniel |

If you're just looking to buy Iceland, their economic troubles have made their stamps very affordable. I have an open subscription with them. And they don't issue too many stamps. |

Thanks for the advice Andrew. I never subscribe for new issues with a postal administration. Should give it a try with Iceland. So far I didn't spend that much on Iceland. Just from one dealer in Sweden I won 3 auctions covering all the stamps from 1974 to 1999 for about $160 and that kept me busy for a while. |

Quote: I think one of the boys from Stanley Gibbons were responsible for some of these labels, Rosenbaum rings a bell somewhere.
Incorrect information, I have just noticed Bruder Rosenbaum on a Venezuelan stamp, so they must have been a printing house. |

Brüder Rosenbaum , Vienna was an Austrian printer. The earliest stamps they printed were for Liechtenstein, 1930 definitive series using photogravure.
They also printed a few stamps for Austria in the middle sixties since they had multicolour offset capabilities which the Austrian State Printer did not have at the time.

I'm a bit lazy so postal administration subscriptions are particularly useful for me. But I enjoy most of the recent issues unlike others. I've noticed that issues from the 2000s are particularly hard to come by. And they issue a lot of stamps so I don't really understand where they've gone. And because of the high'ish face values many stamps have nowadays, sometimes full year packs from recent years can be just as expensive, or more, then older stamps. Insane really. In the case of Iceland, I also recently bought many of their issues, along with Greenland and Faroe Islands. Mainly engravings, a lot by Slania. Bit off topic now so I'll pipe down! |
