With this stamp a lady friend introduced me to the Danish language, Danish stamps, and all other things Denmark. At the time I was researching a Uruguayan/Argentine tango and this lady surprised me with the fact that the second-most recorded tango in the history of the dance was a Danish tango, called Jalousie, Tango Tsigane and composed by Jacob Gade in 1925.

The khene is a mouth organ of Lao origin whose pipes, which are usually made of bamboo, are connected with a small, hollowed-out hardwood reservoir into which air is blown, creating a sound similar to that of the violin. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a khene player, a dancer and a Buddhist temple, designed by Laotian painter Chamnane Prisayane, engraved by Jean Pheulpin, and issued by Laos on October 1, 1959, Scott No. 59.

One from 1999. Interesting because it broke the "rule" that the only living persons to be on British stamps are royalty. In the background, behind Freddie Mercury of Queen, is a drummer... therefore it can only be Roger Taylor who is still very much alive! The rule is no longer in place, by the way.
