Mod...Just guessing...A quick use of Google shows that a
redaction committee existed in St Petersburg back in the 1800's
I was not able to find an exact meaning as to what this group
did, but from the articles I did find it seems that a redaction
group more or less collect info from various sources and them put
them into 1 article, using the info collected. Your item looks like
a wrapper, possibly something that went around a newspaper of various
redacted articles. I tried to google the green line also with no
definite results.

Thanks, Mike.

What you say seems to agree with how I saw Wikipedia define redaction.
And, yes, this item is opened at both ends, as a wrapper would be.

You might want to edit your post and remove or replace that little
character. That looks like it hurts!

Here is one I have had trouble with, let me apologize for the bad picture I took several and this is the best of the lot. I am pretty sure this is a proof or an essay or some sort of test stamp that was made.

What throws me off is it appears to be canceled with a blue mark, I know there are no imperfs of this design so hopefully the experts here can help !

Thanks ric

Hi Ric.....

It could be a proof or essay that was postally used or it has a fake cancel. Is it paper or card stock ?

Thank you guys for keeping this thread going it has provided me with lots of interesting knowledge. Some people would think of this as the not so needed trivia info, but that is what I like about it. It's that off the wall info that doesn't mean alot to most but means the world to a few that I like.

Ric, that is a normal color change. Over time, the chemicals in the
ink sulfurize, causing the darker shade. If you dip the stamp in water
with a little hydrogen peroxide added, the stamp will return to its original color.

You will see this a lot on early 1900's US orange stamps.

Please see pic below!

Where is this from? Is this a stamp at all? I thought it was from germany, but I'm not sure. There is no print on it. I found it mixed in with my grandfathers stash. The cancel is only on the "stamp" part, not on the paper backing. It reads "RADIUMBAD BRAMBACH". The numbers in the middle read "18.12.??-20". The bottom part looks like (VO?????)1. I believe it is perf 11 1/2 and is about 29mm, both sides. Anyone have any ideas? I know I'm stumped!
Thanks

Thanks bobgggg. I was googling the other day and was wondering if it was from there. There actually is no print on the stamp. It is a blank piece of paper with perfs and a cancel. That is it. So..is it a stamp at all??
