Russ, thanks for the info and link that cleared up my confusion about FB.
Does anyone know what "WDO" means?

Nice going Smauggie!
yes, a GB 2-ring rubber parcel cancel...."W.D.O" is a mystery.
Probably London, something like Western Despatch Office. A nice example for research.

Not saying this is it, but there is a Western District Office that formed a part of London's old post office rail system: |

Quote: where does one find such treasures? Why, SCF, of course. I know I didn't scan it (I don't have a hard copy, and it is a GIF), so I picked it up somewhere off the internet. I must have renamed it (though I don't typically use underscores), because Google couldn't find the file name. I wonder if Collect British Postmarks discusses marks for the London underground mail train system? The system looks pretty limited in scope, geographically. Perhaps an interesting little sideline...a page with the map surrounded by stamps from some/all of the stations? |

Thanks everyone who contributed to this post. I really am impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of SCF members. By the way, I checked in my glassines and found another FB cancel but this time it appears be inside a triangle. |

Nice, you can see the impression of the knurled advancing wheel, to take the cover through the machine. |

WDO is Western District Office.
The triangular marking was used on circulars, the giveaway being the ½d rate. |
