Let's See Your Cinderellas!

Seller told me "The animal stamps are edition of hungarian fine arts society (Budapest) from 1950's.
Personally, I find them adorable.

I don't normally collect cinderellas (U.S. state and federal taxpaids are more my thing), but being a good Lutheran boy, when I saw these on ebay I had to pick them up. I think it's the full set, but I'm not positive:

James, this is a very nice series but apart from the 1897 issue, very hard to find. Most I have never seen.

Printed in Recess by De La Rue, they were born out of an idea by the Prince of Wales after it was decided that no new stamps would be issued to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
So these Charity stamps were issued instead and were sold in a number of outlets but NOT the Post Office !
Over £35,000 was collected for the Prince's London and other hospitals which is a huge amount from a sale of Charity stamps.

4 values of similar design were issued in 1898 but did not prove popular and these were overprinted for future years up to 1922/23. They are extremely hard to find and are not cheap.

In honor of cold weather, here's a couple of mine. The Austria sheet is my favorite. It took me a few years of off-and-on hunting to find it. I paid more for it than many of my regular stamps. I think it was worth it, though.

And a couple more weather-related. I'm a meteorologist, so I am always on the hunt for weather stamps. It's amazing how many are actually out there. Anyone with more weather-related cindys to get rid of...I'll purchase them.

sjtwxgirl, that Austrian one is a nice sheet
but I don't think it falls under cinderellas.

They appear to be personalized stamps what the Austrian Post
calls "Meine Marke" basically the same as what we in Canada call
"Picture Post"

They were and still are valid to be used for postage.
It's hard to tell on your scan but it looks like they
are 55c denominations so 11 Euro for the sheet.

The selvadge notes that it was printed by the
Austrian State Printer and issued by Austria Post.

Lithograving, thanks for the info!! I thought they were some sort of local post issue. I first learned of their existence from a snowflake photography web site, which showed a photo of the sheet. I did eventually find a stamp dealer in Europe that had a copy for purchase. I paid a little more than I probably should have, but it was less than $40. I was not thinking of the investment value, though...more of the I finally found it!! It was worth the price for me, since it was so hard to find. I tried searching again for more on the Austria snowflake issue, and I just found more info from the Austria Philatelic Society (U.S.) page. Appears they are personal stamps, but they were designed and printed for Austria Post and available at special events etc. That's a bit of an odd twist on personal stamps.
