no wonder indian dealers are in the green :)

apparently this was withheld in most post offices and released in a few and is now a scarce item

Maybe it was supposed to say on the stamp who that person is pictured there.

The portrait is of Srinivasa Ramanujan, but I don't think that is the reason it wasn't released.

General release has been "postponed".

well it was withheld due to unknown reasons but apparently some post offices didnt get the notice so they released it and it became a rare stamp and an overnight hit.

$10 for one stamp although some people are asking as high as $20
