A little more on this small collection ...

I was reviewing my purchases from this weekend and saw something that interested me. The words "From Bileski" are in the title of this lot. Not knowing who or what Bileski is, I found an interesting obituary worth reading.

As for this lot being from Bileski, I understand this means very little as he was a prolific dealer, to say the least. Nevertheless, I learned something new tonight. Enjoy!

Now that link brings back a lot of memories. I grew up in Saskatoon myself and have had numerous dealings both with Bileski and Saskatoon Stamp Centre.

If Bileski was a "marketer and a promoter" and he was, he was also a collector and very, very honest and knowledgeable about his material. I would like to think that having those little typewritten sheets he always included to tell you what you were holding, what it's history was, and, above all, what a great deal you were getting will continue to mean that there is no real doubt as to its authenticity. I still have quite a few of those little slips in stockbooks and albums.
