Finally got around to scanning my latest group of incoming tax surcharge stamps. these are for various "funds" including cancer research, refugee support, AIDS research, and a few for various building funds. these are pretty much all from the early 1990's to early 2000's. another package should be arriving soon, with a lot more of these.

Hi everyone,
I am new here, I am from Serbia and this is my first post here so if I make a mistake please excuse me! The pictures are not tax stamps but "charity" stamps. What does it mean? Besides regular stamps letter sender had to pay for these stamps and the whole income went to various companies such as Red Cross, Society for the fight against AIDS ...

Tax stamp in Serbia are of different design.

Once again, these are additional stamps and all that money raised would go for various purposes.

I hope I have helped with these stamps and I apologize for the bad English.

Greeting all from Serbia,
Vladislav.

Welcome Vladislav,
hope you enjoy your time here.

Be careful how you word your repsonses,
we are all friends here, no "right" or "wrong"
If we need to correct someone we "suggest"

If these labels "had" to be affixed, then it is a sort of tax

We look forward to seeing some of your contributions

I'm sorry not to agree with you, Rod. If a letter cannot circulate without the stamps in question, they're "tax stamps"; if a letter can circulate without any of them, they're "charity labels" or cinderellas. By the look of the stamps/cinderellas, I would say that we're talking about charity labels.
Anyway it's just my view.

Hi rod222,

I apologized and said I am new to this network. I apologized, and because of my, really bad, the English language. I did not want to offend anyone and to criticize.
but to explain something that is probably just an invention of Serbs us :-) and
"charity" brand to really are! I'll explain it this way:
In addition to regular stamps anyone who sent a letter or package, sometimes had to pay a "charity" stamp and their purpose is gathering money for activities of the Red Cross, fight against cancer, reconstruction of our monastery, send our athletes to the Olympic Games, e.t.c. States from the sale of these stamps have no cash is used all the money collected from the sale of these stamps is paid to these organizations. And that's it. So it did not tax stamp and who wants to see how look like tax and other stamps of ex-Yugoslavia and Serbia can visit my site:
http://www.magicfila.org.

Hoping that I was clearer this time I all you greet from Serbia!
Vladislav.

No problems Vladislav

Just trying to to suggest "soft" responses to
maintain harmony.

As you can see with Cursus, we can have differing opinions
and that's OK until facts are revealed to make a
more reasoned call.
All makes for an interesting interpretation.
Depends entirely on government direction on the use.
It appears they may be cinderellas if they were
only used by choice.
I'll pop over and look at your site

I see, thanks.
I read that as a tax, a burdensome charge, a levy,
a "have to" pay.
"Charity" sounds nice.........

Not to intend to give you a compliment or something, but you do have an excellent command in English!

I don't know about other colleagues opinions, but I believe that at least 50% are sharing my opinion ...

Enjoy the ride

Cheers

Hi kuhli,

Thanks for sharing these pictures. I've seen some of these stamps before but not many.

I especially like the "flying condom" design.
