I could use a hand on some of these early German? states and stamps.
I would also like to know if they are more appropriate now, elsewhere, or ?

Thanks Butterfly!

I'm Lazy, sometimes... aren't we all, and yes, a lot of details on the net. So I'm too inexperienced to know... how do I know if they're originals or not? I have more of the helgoland to show if desired; but the only thing I see is that yes, none are canceled but I certainly know they were acquired between 1920 and 1930.

Heligoland was heavily reprinted ... many reprintings were in the 19th century. Even with the German Philatelic Society's books on forgeries available to me, I have so far avoided purchasing any of them for fear of buying forgeries.

As for the other German States:

Thurn and Taxis: Northern district. Scott Cat #18. 1 sgr rose. Cat Value of $45. Could also be a 1910 reprint with fake cancel. Cat value of $6.

Lubeck type A1 (#1 or #6 depending on color and WM) 1/2g , Used. Cat $1700(1) or $1300(6). Unfortunately, yours is a forgery :)
But even a forgery makes for a nice filler when you've got nothing!

Brian

You'll find the first stamp under Tanganyika in Gibbons. It looks to be SG 45b, with the vermilion (rather than red) overprint. A nice stamp - currently £20 mint.

There are plenty of good Heligoland resources referenced here, in the archives. Links to the primary websites, a scan of the 3 different heads, some discussion of colors, etc.

The 1st stamp was issued from 1917 overprinted for the British occupation of German East Africa. The original East Africa & Uganda Protectorates set is found in SG at the beginning of Kenya, Uganda & Tanganyika.
The 2nd stamp is from German (not Dutch) East Africa. The (small) Yacht key-type (design used in several German colonies) was issued in 1905, with the currency in heller (SG 36). The cancellation is of Dar-es-Salam, which was the capital at the time.
The 5th stamp is from German New Guinea, using the same Yacht key-type, issued from 1901 (SG 7).
You should be able to find these colonies in the Scott index.

The Heligoland is a reprint. Originals with legitimate cancels are what fetch the most money as they are the rarest.

Ok, so this is the same ship/engraver from the earlier set;only marked Mariana. So... If there is only one, do you add it in to the occupied German? or leave it as it's own entity? I'm still going round on this issue.

And again, as Marshall Islands

Scott does set out separate listings for Mariana Islands and Marshall Islands, but your organization just has to fit for you. If you are only going to have a representative few from each of the several colonies that used the Hohenzollern key-type, then I'd be inclined to put them all together, but ordered by colony, and probably right behind Germany. That's what I would do in that case.

In my case, I like the town cancels on them, so I have a bunch of "identical" stamps (differing by postmarks, obviously). Keeping all of the German East Africa together makes sense to me. Whatever makes sense to you.

The first of the three Heligolands is a cut square, so it would not be listed in Scott.

How do you know it is forgery?
I don't know what you see that I don't.
I do hope you'll explain

I concur with Rileysan's i.d. As far as spotting features go, I don't think there is supposed to be a period after Schilling, and it looks like the beak on the right head touches the wing (it shouldn't). It also looks to be missing a secret mark at the bottom, below the "M".
