Was wondering of this stamp (SG 141) has a re-entry in the value tablet? I'm really bad at spotting these sorts of things, but it doesn't look "normal" to me somehow.

Looks fine to me, on your close up, there is evidence the scanner has "blipped" causing a mis registration of the image.

luvthecommonwealth, According to my c/w SG catalogue of 2008 the two pence halfpenny stamp is now SG140, and there is a "re-entry on value tablet" variety on this value, in position R.8/1. Unfortunately there is no detailed description or illustration, so can't be of any more help. Rod222 - can't see how the scanner has caused what we see in the picture of the value tablet - can you clarify? Thanks.... |

DavidR, I believe Rod's reference is to the shift that you can see below. |

My Old 1980 Commonwealth Five Reigns Catalogue lists the 2½d reentry, and describes it as 'Re-entry of value tablet and frame'. If that description is correct, I'd expect to see a lot more doubling. |

I don't have a regular copy to compare to but I see the doubling in the lower left 5 hash marks but generally there would be other evidence. There may be thickening of a few other lines but I can also see the scanner skip issue. Need another copy to compare with . Usually if it was a re-entry such as in that corner there would likely be an issue with the outter frame line as it is so close but they look consistant. |

This looks like the re-entry SG 140l. There's a close-up image of it in the SG KGV catalogue (2010). |

Hi, I didn't realize the scanner "blipped" so I re-scanned the tablet plate. I also scanned the Dominica 2½d tablet plate so there is a comparision. I have the SG 2008 Part I catalogue and there wasn't a photo of the re-entry. Falkland Islands Dominica, as a secondary reference. |

Much better scan and definite doubling as well as thickening of of frame and leaf lines. May be other areas as alot of re-entries have a twist effect and may show signs in other places but with less strength. Always good if you can detect in lettering as well which can be very subtle. Great stamp. |

Thanks again nitrolures and everyone. I think we have a confirmed re-entry! 3 errors out of 249 Silver Jubilee stamps is not bad! |

That dot is identical to a perf puncture that has adhered to the printing plate. A singular oddity is my guess.
