The Irish hare, or mountain hare (Lepus timidus) is a widely distributed species throughout the northern hemisphere in Europe and Asia. Some scientists consider the Irish hare to be a separate species from the mountain hare.

The Irish hare is featured on one stamp of Ireland's third "animals and marine life" series of 8 issued in 2012. This stamp is #454 of the coiled roll of 550 (see lower right corner). As the code #12307 indicates, it was sold on the 307th day of 2012.
