I got this in the mail recently, and was wondering just what the large, metallic gold label actually is. It seems very fancy for the usual meter label.

Quote: Whats the difference between that and a frama ? A Frama is label from a Swiss ATM. You punched in the price you wanted. The Horizion labels are printed by the Postal Clerk/Teller after weighing your item. In the UK, Framas were only in use in 1984-5 as a trial. |

OK, so it sounds like it is a very snazzy postage meter printed at the post office. I have to say, it sure is FANCY! 10 times better than what the USPS uses! |

We used to have plain white ones, very boring. I'm not sure why they have gone for something more snazzy. It must cost more to produce. The plain ones I suppose were easy to forge, but as the labels are printed and affixed by counter staff as they take the item off you, I can't see how you would be able to use a forged one? Horizon by the way refers to the post office counter IT system. |

And it is, of course, a Machin, so will live comfortably in a Machin collection too |

I never thought to search under "Machin" for info. What can I say... I'm a Yankee! |

At a recent stamp fair I sat next to a chap who was a Machin collector.
He was poring over book after book. His album was very impressive. I asked him how the collection was going. "I need two" he said.
I was floored. There's over 1,400 of the things, and he collects them MUH.
Impressive perseverance if you ask me. |
