I just notice early this morning it's Dianne birthday the first of September but I think I missed the morning pick up at the mailbox...
Rileysan It's our pleasure to do business on SCF like you once wrote to me. It's a kind of thrill for me to sell plus the money I earn. Thank you. |

James, i'm glad they arrive in good condition. The Poland 1943 is in demand. The value should rise steadily over the years. Good to have you on this forum. Thank you. Daniel |

Puzzler blew me away with an envelope of 60+ old Belgium parcel post, Railroad, airmail, etc. (all because I sent him a few Belgiums and a few cancels) Thank you Puzzler! Below are just a few representative ones. There was much more, of course, which will giving me a first-hand education on Belgium varieties as I try to catalog them. I will also need to redo my Belgium book to accommodate this new treasure trove. The tire track he sent was the perfect companion to a double tire track I had recently found in a kilo mix. Also, I was particularly impressed by the engraving quality and design of the airmails. (Next stop -- "collecting by engraver" to ask about them) PS: Puzzler - Are you sure you wanted to part with that center one with the ornate cancel? |

Glad I caught the tail end of the thread with what I think is airmail stamp Belgium Scott#C10. I had not seen this stamp before but any stamp that has a DC4 on it is okay in my books. I know it's a DC4 because I watch Ice Pilots on the History Television Network that follows the machinations of Buffalo Airways in what we used to refer to as Canada's Northwest Territories. A few weeks ago they ran a two hour episode in which they re-enacted dropping the bombs in the manner that they did in the movie Dam Busters. With a lot of trial and error they managed to do it. They used a DC4 for the re-enactment because of its similarities with the Lancaster Bomber which actually carried out the chore. |
