One from Ahmed
a great selection
and a great cover fro Abu Dhabi.

Glad they finally arrived Rod, and that you are happy with them. But I can't help but think that in this day and age airmail times for a letter should be a little slicker between our two countries!

Those lines are for electronic perforation control.

The conversion to electronic perforation control occurred during the U.S. 1938 regular issue (Presidential series). For the 1/2c to 50c stamps of that series, pre-eye plates have the plate number farther from the stamps and have no bars in the left margin. Eye plates have plate numbers close to the stamps and have horizontal bars in the left margin to control perforation.
