The Swiss National Redoubt encompassed a widely distributed set of fortifications begun in the 1880s that secured the mountainous central part of Switzerland. Here is an image of a Cinderella (poster) stamp depicting a Swiss army field gun and crew, designed by Swiss artist Louis Curtat (1869-1944), printed by photogravure, and issued by Switzerland in 1917 to publicize the Swiss army's defensive artillery strength at "Fort No. 5."
