The old spruce forest in the higher elevations of the Harz National Park has been protected from logging for many decades. The park was established in 1990, just before the official date of reunification. It covers an area formerly separated by the border between East and West Germany.  |

Great Britain Forests August 13, 2019 Kielder Forest is a large forestry plantation in Northumberland, England. It is dominated by conifers, with Sitka spruce ( Picea sitchensis) covering three quarters of the planted area.  |
