Nice palm stamp nethryk, ironically even though it looks like
a palm Pachypodium lamerei is not a palm.

I saw this interesting program the other day on BBC International
which featured the palm oil industry and it's importance to the
consumer nations of India and China and the producers mainly
Malaysia and Indonesia. Also the effect on Malaysia's Rainforest.
Before this the only cooking oils I had heard of were corn oil, olive oil, peanut oil, sunflower oil,
canola oil etc but never palm oil.

Any way back to forests. Not as colourful as the previous ones
but pretty nevertheless.

Austria issued this set in 1962 featuring it's various forests.

Engraver: Rudolf Toth

lithograving - Thanks. Re "palms": Yep, that's marketing for you, akin to renaming Chinese gooseberries (Actinidia deliciosa) "kiwifruit" so they'd sell better!

Here is an image of a stamp designed by the BEP's Charles R. Chickering, engraved by Richard M. Bower (vignette) and G.A. Payne (lettering), and issued by the USA on August 29, 1960 to publicize the World Forestry Congress in Seattle, Washington, held from August 29 to September 10, Scott No. 1156.

Petrified Forest National Park is a United States national park in Navajo and Apache counties in northeastern Arizona. The Petrified Forest is known for its fossils, especially fallen trees that lived in the Late Triassic Period, about 225 million years ago. The completion of the park's headquarters facility was celebrated at a dedication ceremony on October 27, 1963, co-sponsored by the Holbrook-Petrified Forest Chamber of Commerce. Here is an image of a cacheted cover prepared to commemorate the event, featuring a map of Arizona and Holbrook, the US National Park Service logo, and a cross-section of a fossilized tree.
