Hello all,

I have an existing worldwide collection, except Asia, in Vario pages in Lighthouse binders... 7 of them. As my interest and the collection grows, do the members here think stockbooks are more economical to store the stamps? Considering the expense for about 32 sheets+ binder compared to a 16 page (32 sides) stockbook.

Just a thought.. would love to hear what others here think.

I have/use both 16 page stockbooks and Vario sheets. Vario sheets as you know are more expensive but I prefer to use them over the stockbooks. The Vario pages are more sturdy and flexible in that I can use different row sizes where I have larger size stamps to display.

Agreed. Currently my stamps are according to countries & overlap almost halfway; so the display factor is minimal, if that :(
So if I wanted to display each of my stamps correctly (fully), then adding 4 more binders + Vario sheets is way more pricy than 4 stockbooks. But as you mention, Vario sheets are more flexible, especially when it comes to larger or vertical stamps; stockbooks seem to come in 9 strips/page, so will have to skip rows I guess.

Just some advice to young or new collectors. When looking at your stamps and talking above them, very small saliva/spit drops can land on the stamps and if put away immediately for a period of time, rust/brown spots can develop on the stamps surface.

Allow the stamp surface to dry, just in case, before placing them in extended storage.

KirkS, Definitely not, but it gives a new meaning when my Mrs says "I've got a big mouth". Due to early loses by rust spotting, I've learnt to keep it shut when looking over stamps.

Someday I should probably clean my screen from the laughs and spray that happens from reading jokes on SCF. I am disappointed when ebay stamps arrive here after purchase and don't have that funny printing error that I saw on screen.

I apologize Ram for being part of the digression. I didn't mean to 'hi-jack' your thread.

I agree with you that Vario pages give you more flexibility. And I personally prefer them to stockbooks. If you do a search, you will find a several threads bemoaning the difficulty of finding quality stockbooks.

Finally, this ebay seller has been recommended here more than once. The prices are good and the ratings are high. I have not yet purchased from him, but I've added him to my favorite stores list in ebay for my next purchase.

Hope this info helps,

Thanks Kirks.. no apology necessary. I'm learning quite a bit.. even in the off-topic stuff. Yep, I saw a lot with that ebay seller.

Will surely check out those threads.

Greatly appreciate it.

Edit: Have bought quite a bit (about 200 Vario sheets & 6 Lighthouse F binders with slipcases) from him; no issues at all.

Thanks for posting that link, KirkS - Last week I ordered a 2-pack of binders and a couple of packs of Vario pages from him. Expecting to receive them soon. Trying to be patient, but I really wanted them the same day I ordered them!

I hear you Nichole.

I tend to do hobbies like stamps in "fits and spurts" -- so when I'm ready to work, I need instant gratification.

I received my pair of Lighthouse binders and a couple of packs of Vario pages from mit_63 on ebay. LOVE IT! My 10 year old daughter claimed one of the binders and a handful of stamps. I still also love my old Minuteman album (I recently found it, after putting it away when I was a kid!) and plan to fill in the blanks with mint stamps (and eventually replace the cancelled hinged stamps with mounted mints)and get the supplements since 1983.
