Does anyone know what these are? They're both on horizontally laid paper.

The wording means Eastern Correspondence.
The stamps are listed in SG under Russian Post Offices in Turkish Empire.
The left stamp is SG33 (1879) and the right stamp is SG17a (1868) in SG SOTW.

Hi jimjamtwo,

These are stamps from the Russian Post Offices in the Turkish Empire.

The 2k green is SG 33 or SG 33a from 1884.

The 10k carmine and green is SG 17 or SG 17a if horiz laid paper, or SG 21 if vert laid.

Thanks for the info, guys!

nigelc, what's the difference between SG 33 and 33a?

Both are on horizontally laid paper, so the second will be SG 17a.

The online Gibbons gives a CV of £3.25 for 17a but says nothing about 33a.

Here are SG's listings with used prices from their 2008 Part 10 catalogue:

SG 17 10k carmine & green £12
SG 17a 10k rose-carmine & green £10

SG 33 2k deep green £3.25
SG 33a 2k green £3.25

I wasn't clear in my previous post. Both SG 17 & SG 17a are on horiz laid paper - the only difference between the two is the shade.
