One of the stamps from Ireland's 2012 set of 9 designs of "Irish Animals and Marine Life" is the Elephant Hawk-Moth (Deilephila elpenor). This insect is more common in Central Europe and is easily recognizable by its tan and bright pink coloration. It is a nocturnal creature and is important for its role in pollination. |

One of the designs of Ireland's first "Irish Animals and Marine Life" series of computer-vended stamps (2010) is the green tiger beetle (Cicindela campestris). Photographic images were used for all of the stamps, throughout the five "Animals" series. The "11056" imprint below the value means that this stamp was sold and imprinted on the 56th day of 2011, which was February 25. It was postmarked the same day. The green tiger beetle is a common Eurasian species. From Wikipedia. "They can fly fast, making a loud buzzing noise. It can run at speeds of 60 cm. per second." The Irish/Celtic cancellation on this stamp "AN NAS" translates to English as Naas. It is in County Kildare and is located between Dublin and Kildare. From the logain.ie website, ""Naas was an important stronghold of the kings of Leinster before the Norman invasion." |

This caddisfly larva is one of six subjects from the U.K.'s 2012 "Lakes" Post and Go, computer-vended stamp series From Wikipedia, "The caddisflies, or order Trichoptera are a group of insects with aquatic larvae and terrestrial adults. There are approximately 14,500 described species...Caddisflies are best known for the portable cases created by their larvae." These cases can be made from leaves, pebbles, or various other materials found in a stream, or lake bed. |

Quote: This caddisfly larva is one of six subjects from the U.K.'s 2012 "Lakes" Post and Go, computer-vended stamp series I love the British and Irish CVP stamps you've posted here. Is there a general catalog of world CVP stamps available yet? I have several specialized catalogs that list CVP for specific countries, but nothing for world-at-large CVP issues. |

Codehappy, Michel's last one was issued in 2014...and the one before that in 2009. So, there should be a new Michel Automatenmarken catalog out before long. Michel provides a good deal of technical information about the stamps in the listings, and the machines are described in the introduction. I use the internet to find information on these stamps. The U.K. version of ebay is a good place to check out their various series. The "ateeme" website has some great background and specialized information on worldwide CVP stamps. The U.K. and Ireland (to a lesser degree) have substantially increased their number of these stamps in the last few years. |

I should have guessed Michel had such a catalog; something new to get for my library. |
