Hello, here is a 1960's Luxembourg stamp with what looks like at least 2 cancels.Does anybody have a scan with the full cancel with the bird and letter?
Thanks
David

I beg to differ,
I think I see 3 strikes.

The CDS would have been a duplex.
It is not beyond reason, that the dove and letter may
be a country other than Luxembourg, ie a receiving office
of another country?

Hi rod222, Would it be typical to have a receiving mark on the stamp?
Thanks
David

I don't think so, David
quite rare, but has tripped us up before now.

In relation to the markings,
I am looking at the strikes in relation to a watch face,
the dove is on one slant (and may be the slogan part of the CDS duplex)
the "AERIE" is on another slant
as is the CDS making me think there are three strikes,
possibly a parcel stamp and the clerk has gone gangbusters :)

The odd thing that your post has brought up,
and perhaps I can be corrected here,
the Machine cancels on Luxembourg issues,
seem to have the slogan to the left of
the machine imprint, most countries have it on the right,
so the slogan acts as a "killer" to the stamp
whilst leaving the CDS to be read on clean space on the cover.

Hi David,
yes there is, and it confirms a lot of the slogans
appear left of the CDS.
However, the link only shows slogans up to 1940 .. bad luck! :(
