"Barcino" (in fact, Colonia Iulia Augusta Faventia Paterna Barcino) was the name given by the Romans when, in 10 BC, founded the city that today call Barcelona.
It was also the name chosen for the September 1967 stamp exhibition, also named Barcelona's Stamp Week.
The cinderella is written in the, then compulsory, Spanish language.

As tomorrow is Saint George, patron of Catalonia, England and some other countries and cities, let's show a card from a Catalonia Postal History exhibition organized by the Cercle Filatèlic I Numismàtic de Barcelona on April 1974.

Cursus, that is just wonderful.
If you ever come across a spare copy, please point me in the right direction.

I have a soft spot for St.George and the Dragon cindies.

Thank you very much Mike. This card exists also in four more colours written in Spanish instead of Catalan (as the one shown). This was because Franco's regime (1939/1975) favoured Spanish language over Catalan. For this reason, 6000 cards were printed in Spanish and just 500 in Catalan. Anyway, can you imagine which version became the most popular?
Have a nice Saint George Day!

HAFNIA '87

The rescuing of Danish and Refugee Jews from Denmark on September 30th-October 1st 1943, was one of the acts of outstanding bravery and true humanity during the dark days of WWII.
As though a miracle had occured, 98% of all Jews in Denmark managed to escape to Sweden on that Jewish New Year, with the help of ordinary Danish and Swedish citizens, The Danish resistance and even a Nazi Naval attache, who gave a warning of what was about to come.

It wasn't until 1973 that Israel Post paid homage to this incredible act by issuing a single stamp to mark the 30th anniversary of the rescue.
In 1987, Israel participated at Hafnia '87, the Danish International Philatelic Exhibition. To mark the occasion, The IPF [Israel Philatelic Federation], who were in attendance, issued 3 items in very limited numbers as souvenirs for visitors to the show.
Shown below are two sheets of colour trials on thin card, printed from the original plate. One was overprinted with the show inscription and logo in black.
The third item was a booklet, again with show logo [this time in red], on the cover. Inside two panes of the same colour trials, part perforated and gummed on ordinary paper.

I have been on the lookout for these for many years but they are extremely scarce and I have never seen a copy/ies except on display at Israel 2008. Now I have copies of all 3 and I show them to you here.
Below those is the issued stamp and and the Philatelic Service Information leaflet.

The Israel Philatelic Federation also issued a sheet for the 1988 World Youth Stamp Exhibition, JUVALUX '88, in Luxembourg.
Depicting M.Karola's 1955 Youth immigration issue and printed from the original plate, the card was issued in very limited numbers [1000] for presentation at the event.
The show inscription and both the Show and IPF logos were overprinted in green on the sheet.

Like the 3 others in the post above, extremely hard to find and very scarce. I picked this up from the same source. Due to the number of visitors and size of the event, there appear to be more of this 'Juvalux' sheet available than some other event specials. [But I am d****d if I could find one][Until now] !

British Philatelic Expo Oct 1985, London.
San Marino - translates - 'San Marino in its stamps' .......

Amazing that they managed to use the cancel up-side-down. (twice!). Plus they used a real stamp 'Biennial of Photographic Art', for the element which also seems rather odd.

Anyway I really like it for its peculiarities, and if I ever get a chance to buy one with the cancel the correct way up, I will get it to make an unmatched pair

Bas,

Lovely items and I like the inverted souvenir...most unusual.

However, these belong to another thread as this is for Cinderellas only and those in your last items are postage stamps !!

Nice to see though.

I'm not sure if this is considered a Cinderella – it's printed on, well, glittery card stock. I picked it up at the antique flea market here this weekend. (My other goodies are posted in the US Picture Postcards forum and US Back of Book.)

A Great Britain cover from the 1947 National Stamp Exhibition, with a KGVI paying the way, and a cinderella down in the corner.

Not normally something I would pick up, but this one caught my eye.

Looks like a Cinderella. Is it a card or sheet ? Is it gummed ? I have not seen it before but will check it out.
