Oil refinery and chemical plant, Plock, superimposed on the flags of the Soviet Union and Poland, designed by Polish graphic artist Stefan Malecki, lithograved, and issued by Poland on April 21, 1965, Scott No. 318. Note that on the USSR flag the prescribed "red star framed in gold" over the hammer and sickle is mysteriously absent. A subtle act of artistic sabotage, perhaps? - nethryk |

Micheal this thread just keeps growing. I am always finding myself putting aside flag stamps as I am sorting. I have a little stock now for you and I recently came across this one. I hope you do not have it as I picked up another one for you. Thought you might like it. |

Mac, that looks great. I don't think I have that one. Many thanks for thinking of me. Londonbus1 |

This is certainly a popular and interesting thread. I have a couple of posts to add to it. The first was to hunt for a copy of the Canadian flag that predated the now familiar Maple Leaf which was adopted in 1965. There was, prior to this, really no "Official" Flag but the Red Ensign was generally accepted. A Post a few pages back reminded me of the Korean Friendly Nations Issue and sure enough, there was the older Flag in some Detail. Here is the relevant Souvenir Sheet from that Issue. |
