I would like to thank a certain Dianne Earl for the lovely FLAG packet I opened yesterday.
Many many thanks for thinking of me.
Generosity and kindness are wonderful attributes and this group has plenty.
Dianne has a big chunk !

Thanks londonbus and you're very welcome. It makes me happy when others can find a good home for all the spares I have. Besides I thought sharing is REALLY what stamp collecting is all about.

Glad you received them ok and hope you can use some of them in your collecttion.

Stay safe

Dianne

Dianne,

Yes, I did indeed use some and your packet helped me realise how much my collection needed sorting out.

So I am doing that now and all week and will continue into next week too.
When it is sorted into country order I will have a load of spares, spares that I really didn't know I had. Including some nice pieces, sets both Mint and used.

So here is the question.
Does anyone collect Flags or is thinking about it? Or does anyone collect all themes and can use the spares I have?

I will give away FREE OF CHARGE all my FLAG duplicates, Post Free to the first person to post here with his/her reason for wanting them !
This must not include that they are needed for selling on internet auctions. These are to collect only.
This is my only condition.

It will be a nice small starter collection.
I will not post any scans, it will be a surprise. But you will not be disappointed. I guarantee it.

I would like them if they are not US stamps as I think I could paper the house with the US flag stamps I have...I just started collecting used WW so I do not have much to trade with but I will tell you that I trade my dupes with kids mostly and some soldiers oversees.
I do solomnely swear not to sell them on ebay, ioffer or stampoffers...

Since I collect stamps with U.S. flags on them, I was directed to this topic. I've just read all the foregoing so I feel like I'm a little caught up.

Unlike LondonBus, I look for the flag anywhere -- even on a pole above a building or a patch on an astronaut's sleeve. If it can be discerned (not just assumed) to be an America flag, it goes in my collection, or is sought for.

I'm not into foreign stamps with American flags yet, although I do pick them up if I happen to find them. I was interested to see some shown here. Most of the ones I have found were Olympic commems.

My idea was that once I identified and collected one each of all U.S. stamps with U.S. flags, I'd be done, resting on my philatelic laurels and only having to add each new issue as it came out. I'll let you know when I get there.

My list of flag stamps stops with Scott 4188. Anybody have Scott numbers for the ones that have been issued since?

Thanks.

Well, Dave, I need every stamp with an American flag on it that was issued after 4188 was issued in 2007. Actually, I have some, but I haven't seen a new catalogue lately. Thought somebody might have the numbers.

Here are some of my favorites, just for you.

Jan
