Hello forum, First time on the forum. I have aquired a group of world stamps and WW2 money that I have finally decided to go through. One by one of pains taking work to look up and find a value of these. There are several US stamps too. Several years ago I had noticed this strange double sided stamp with a palm tree and swastika. Like many of the Hitler stamps that has come with collections this one was different. Yesterday I had taken another look at this stamp and found out it was folded and now I have two. Trying to find out what this weird stamp was that didn't have a price or writing I had stumbled across this very interesting forum and some posts regarding these stamps. Can anyone tell me what I am looking at? Thanks for the opportunity to be part of this website. Bill

Yes, the same type of stamp. After reading some of the posts it looks like a common stamp to reproduce. I am trying to identify my group of stamps and file them. I had no idea that there were so many interested in stamps around the world. Someone mentioned the name Guido Gabisch as someone that would have lnowledge of this type of stamp but his email cannot be found.. Bill

Bill,

Gabish is the only recognized expertizer for the Tunis Feldpost issue. He doesn't list an e-mail address, but here's his other contact info.

Gabisch, Guido, Kapellenweg 7, 84347 Pfarrkirchen,
Tel. 08561 986866, Fax 08561 986867

With the Tunis issue, there are so many excellent fakes that expertization is the only way to be 100% sure if it's real or not. It's also complicated by the fact that there are two variations that are not always easy to distinguish from each other, much less from some of the better fakes.

I have expertized copies of both variations, so if you want to see hi-res scans, go here.

Thanks for the contact information. I looked at your pictures and both kind of look like mine. I am almost sure these are authentic due to where they had come from but I will pursue to get them authenticated. Bill

I have been meaning to get a pro opinion on my copy as well. I had an older fella who collects this time period look at my copy and offered his opinion that my copy is genuine. Here it is for comparison:

Good Luck with your stamps, hope it comes back cert'd!

Have a Good One,

Do I FAX pictures of mine to Guido Gabisch since he isn't taking emails? I would like to post mine here. Is that possible? Mine are a little darker and yellowish but the detail is there.

Sure, post all you wish. We all like to see good scans. Try to do a 600 ppi scan and crop around the stamp so you just show the stamp and not the surrounding empty space. That way you get a better picture and more detail for any expert to examine.

The expertising fellow will probably want you to send the stamp to him to examine in person as picture can be altered in many ways by all the modern software available. However, I do not know him, he may give you an opinion over the internet as one fellow does that here on North America.

Skilo, FWIW, those look good to me.

Bill, your best bet may be to have one of the folks on SCF who's fluent in German get in touch with Gabisch and see what he requires.

I'm almost positive those are forgeries, but it's difficult to put my finger on why. There are subtle distinctions in the designs which shouldn't be there in adjoining stamps, and the paper doesn't look right.

How long have they been reproduced? I have had these along for over 11 years. I have had one positive and one negative feedback now.
