Canadian Stamps Made Out Of Silver

This I think would fall under a cinderella classification. I have these two replicas of Canadian stamps in my collection.
They are metal, but other than that I have no other info to add, besides the printed matter.
Feel free to add whatever knowledge you have on these please. No clue of worth.

The Jerry Parker reproductions were very popular for many years and I think a reasonable proportion of all the commemorative stamps up to about 1970 were done this way. These are most likely .99 silver though I have seen some of his done in copper as well.

Have not seen any for years but the last time I noticed any on ebay they actually went for between $*.00 and $15.00 - I think it was about 5 or 6 years ago. Try a search on ebay because I imagine they pop up quite regularly in some category.

After reading your post I checked the backs. They both have 999 on the bottom right corner denoting silver content. Silver alone could increase the value. Will check ebay for present/past auctions.

This from a pierrelebel I recieved a response from an ebay forum:
"the Parker silver stamp reproductions were not issued as "sets". They were released over a period of time. Many modern stamps were reproduced inclding the four stamps issued in 1971 for Osaka Expo (Scott #508-511)."
He mentions a dealer who sold them some 20-40 years ago named Kasimir Bileski.

Bileski was a fascinating individual and a prolific dealer in Canada from the 1930s to the 2000s. He was based in Winnipeg and worked well into his 90s. I am not the least surprised that he had his finger in this enterprise as well because he was a relentless merchandiser and promoter of the hobby. I think that it is possible that one of his heirs is continuing the business - at least until they dispose of what must be warehouses of material, and they may have more information on the replicas.

I know if you do a search using his name, you come up with several references - a few of them my own.

Wow, Bileski was quite the collector to say the least. I read it will take his heirs into their 90's to sell what he accumulated.

I am a collector of Jerry's work. It seems that I am missing only one of all of what he did in making Canadian and some American stamps reproductions in silver and in bronze (or copper).

Actually it is the 4c Louisiana statehood. If anybody could help me to get it ... I would appreciate very much.

I had to revive this old article because of similarity. I have this one philatelic reproduction that was in a collection I purchased. I have not seen any silver in this color before. No mention of maker, no stamp on back, weighs 8.5 grams. I did small corner scrape on back and still cannot determine metal. Pretty hard material as compared to copper. Any ideas who made these and any idea of value as compared to Parker issues. See photos below.

There was an American set of stamps on silver, also. These were sterling silver, however.

Greg, that set of 50 worlds silver stamps at 12oz has a melt value of over $580 today. Good ROI. Silver hit just over $49us today.
