As today's Saint George Day (Sant Jordi, in Catalan), patron of Catalonia, England, was well as many other countries and towns around the world, I'm showing a Saint George cinderella, issued in 1900 by the "Unió Catalanista", the first Catalan Nationalist party.
A work of Josep Lluis Pellicer (Barcelona, 1842 - 1901), in was used to show the monthly payments of the party dues. So, it exists in 12 main shades. It was also stuck on cards and postcards, although Spanish postal clerks were instructed to tear them from any item they saw on. So, not many circulated items have survived.

Tradition commands that today any Catalan man should buy a rose for his beloved one and will get a book from her (Note: failure on doing this could seriously damage your relationship)
Although, today is a working day in Catalonia, on the afternoon we'll flock to the streets of our country, the air flavoured by millions of roses and with the Catalan flag everywhere, to buy roses and books and to share a true festive day.

I wish all our SCF friends a Nice Saint George/ Sant Jordi Day!

As today we celebrate Our Lady of Montserrat, Catalonia's patron, day. I'm showing a set, issued in 1956 to commemorate the 75 aniv. of the virgin coronation.
Written in Spanish and with a somewhat disappointing design:

It has nothing to do with the 1947 issue:

Three more 1914 Esperanto cinderellas. Black ink on green paper.

Today, we've reached the 20,000 readings. Thank you very much to all our friends.

Just to be sorry not to be able to show any gastronomic cinderella, as (again) a Catalan restaurant has been considered the best one in the World. The "Celler de Can Roca" in Girona.

Dedicated to Cursus and all followers and, of course, the Catalan cuisine, on the occasion of the appointment of Celler de Can Roca. This cinderella it's the only reference I've found about the restaurants in Catalonia.

Just 25 years ago, in May 1988, the Catalan Government, the Association of Philatelic Traders, the Barcelona Philatelic and Numismatic Circle (my own club!) and the Royal Barcelona Fine Arts Society, organized a Philatelic and Numismatic exhibition on "Cooking/eating and Health". It was held on the last society premises, located on Barcelona's old town.
The logo was designed by Antoni Tąpies.

More great items. Thanks for showing us.
The Warriors sheet is simply stunning. I think I posted before here that I just love the simple designs, and this sheet fits the bill perfectly.
Now I can go to bed and have a nice dream !

Just want to add that recently I have been bidding on some Barcelona Cinderellas and have been outbid on them all !
The Cinderella market is very strong just now and one needs to shop around to get a deal.

Keep 'em coming.

In this exhibition Stamps War, also have a dedicated ciderelles of castles. And so many sheets of castles and warriors of different colors. I know in 8 different colored sheets of castles and warriors 12 sheets. The drawings are of F.Tubau (not to say that the "F" maybe Francis?). This artist also collaborated with the design of Esperanto stamps.

Well, Modernism (our Art Decó) is still our daily landscape on certain areas of downtown Barcelona. So, this design is absolutely normal for me and it's hard to see anything that special.

Cursus, it just has several of my favorite themes/motifs all together in a very visually-pleasing way.

More wonderful items and great [and simple] designs from Cursus and Melic.
The recent items shown have been just amazing.
I had never seen any of them before, and even in searching, failed to come up with much !

There must be some great dealers in Barcelona !
Time to visit ?
