Cinderellas issued around 1988 by the socialist political trust "Emprius" showing Pasqual Maragall I Mira (Barcelona, 1941) former Major of Barcelona (1982-97) and Catalonia's President(2003-06). Member of Catalonia's Socialist Party (PSC).

Some time ago (may be years?) I showed the cinderellas of tha 1933 Album Catalunya (Catalonia Album). Now, locked because of the covis-19, I'm continuing that with some not yet shown items.

Lleida, is a town in Western Catalonia, about 180 km West of Barcelona, by the river Segre on a rich agriculture land. It's a very old city, dating from Roman times. It 's even mentioned on Caesar's Civil War history, as in 49 BC, there was the Ilerda (Roman name of the city) between Caesar's and Pompei troops. Nowadays is considered the capital of Inland Catalonia.

In 1933, Lleida, had 40.000 inhabitants (140.000 nowadays).

Chapter 40 of the Àlbum Catalunya, show Barcelona's suburbs, actually, those on the Serra de Collcerola, a not so high hills range (600 m at the top) that back Barcelona's coastal plain on the West.
Being a urban park, landscape hasn't changed that much since 1933. Only some places.














Here, you can also see the three versions of these cinderllas: grenn-black, blue-green and brown.

Chapter 25, is devoted to Girona (100 km North of Barcelona). Now a 102.000 inhabitants thriving city with much industry and turism around. By 1933, Girona had around 30.000 inhabitants. A quiet, provincial town.

Tarragona (100 km SW from Barcelona)is one of the main cities of Catalonia. Founded by the Romans on the 3rd century B.C. it was very important on Roman times. It, even was the capital of the whole Empire for a while as Octavious Augustus stayed there for 2 or 3 years.
So the Roman remains are very important. Nowadays, you can see more ruins than in 1933.

S'Agaró is an old summer resort dating from the early 1930's on Catalonia's Costa Brava about 100 km NE from Barcelona.
When these cinderellas were issued, the place was virtualy unspoiled. It has been well preserved up today; but's not the same.













Perhaps, in 2 or 3 weeks, when the worst of this is over, I'll be able to drive up to there.

Hi Cursus...….I haven't been around for a while so just been catching up on all of your great Cinderellas. Envious as usual. Thanks for the continuation of this amazing topic for which you deserve a 'Philatelic Oscar' !!
