Puzzler - no, Estonian stamps do not have any phosphorescent tagging. But who knows what the future brings. |

Well, you never know. My collection is strong in the 1991-2001 period, but weak on the 1st Republic and modern issues. Anyway, is not quantity, but quality of my stamps what actually matters to me. Stamp depicting Estonian castles issued between 1993 and 1994. |

On June 1992 Estonia introduces a new currency the Estonian Crown (1 EK = 10 URSS Rbl), and on 06/22/1992 a new set of NVI stamps with shades slightly different from the previous ones is issued. These are: PPE (0.10 Kr) yellow-orange for domestic and Baltic mail PPI (2 kr) green-yellow for Europe, USA and Canada mail PPA (4 kr) dark blue for overseas mail |

My Estonian catalog just says: "Sun design". Perhaps is a raising sun based in old Estonian patterns. As for the "broken pyramid"; as far as I know there're neither pyramids nor proper mountains (Baltics' roof: 320 m!) in Estonia, just some "rolling hills" as they call in England... |

Under Estonian Mythology on Wikipedia is this interesting tidbit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estonian_mythology Quote: It has been suggested, among others by ethnologist and former president Lennart Meri, that a meteorite which passed dramatically over populated regions and landed on the island of Saaremaa around 3,000-4,000 years ago was a cataclysmic event that may have influenced the mythology of Estonia and neighboring countries, especially those from whose vantage point a "sun" seemed to set in the east.[4] In the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, cantos 47, 48 and 49 can be interpreted as descriptions of the impact, the resulting tsunami and devastating forest fires. It has also been suggested that the Virumaa-born Oeselian god Tharapita is a reflection of the meteorite that entered the atmosphere somewhere near the suggested "birthplace" of the god and landed in Oesel. |

In October 3rd 1992 (03/10/1992, in continental Europe), we have the first joint issue (Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia) an 8 stamp booklet printed in Sweden and showing Baltic sea birds. |

Did you know that Estonia has 2 different eagle stamps (top left stamp)? As you can see here...the 1 KR. One "R" goes through the wing the other does not. |
