Motukorea or Browns Island is one of the best preserved volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field. The island consists mainly of one scoria cone with a deep crater. The volcano erupted 24500 years ago and became an island following sea level rise some 7000 years ago.

The Traversay Islands

Zavodovski Island is the northernmost of the Traversay Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. The island consists of one major stratovolcano which is surrounded to the east by a plain of lava flows. Volcanic eruption occurred as recent as 2016.
