Hello, These Belgium stamps came in the mail today, a small packet of 30 stamps. There were some nice railroad stamps and cancels as well as other great cancels. Being someone who loves a good cancel, I was quite excited when I opened this packet.

The stamp on the first row, top left reads-Brasschaft 1927. It has the original gum. Would this be a Precancel? The third one from the left ,tpo rps reads-Take a postal check account. The stamp on the bottom row far right has a tab that reads-Does not deliver on Sundays. Is the tab part of the stamp or part of the sheet it was on? Anyway, I can't think of too many things you can spend a dollar on and have this much fun.
Thanks
David

This one has a red B in an oval. What is that for?

It is indeed a precancel, although the placename is Brasschaat (sorry to nitpick there). Belgium has a lot of those precancels for the earlier definite series.

The 'Do not deliver on Sunday' tab is part of the stamp.

As for the red B, I think that's an overprint making it a railroad stamp.

The stamps with a red B overprint are official stamps.

The early official stamps were issued for use by the Administration of the Belgian National Railways.

The 1932 10c on 40c red violet stamp is overprinted/surcharged,and has it's own Scott number(240)- not just cancelled.
If you already knew that, I apologize in advance. :-)

Jkjblue, I didn't know that. I have all the Scott catalogs except the A-B one so that info really helps me.
thanks

Actually, Scott is rather vague with its header information. I'm not sure if that note is only for O1-O25 in the Scott catalog, or if it applies later as well. That's why I was vague in my statement. So the "Administration of the Belgian National Railways" note may not even apply to this stamp since it was issued after O25.

It is an official stamp for the government, not for usage by general public.

Beyond that, someone more knowledgeable will need to chime in or correct me.

Khj I remember a thread a while back about Belgian RR parcel stamps and it was very confusing to me. They can be tricky I think. thanks for the info, I am more clear on it now.
