First of all, let me be clear that I do not own this item; I simply came across it when surfing the web. But the image is quite interesting to stamp collectors, I would think:

Does anyone know anything about this cinderella? There was no information provided about it and no known artist who created the image. The only suggestion was that it was probably a "generic" image as the large gray area at the bottom of the stamp was probably meant to allow for the insertion of a name, or stamp club, or similar organization.

Has anyone ever seen this one before and/or know anything about its origin?

wt1, I am going to venture a guess here and say (although I certainly know nothing about the cinderella itself), it should have had some print in the lower section below the boy's legs to let us all know what the stamp was all about. My guess is it is a printing error - Jeff

Any idea as to its dimensions? It looks very similar to a book label or book plate where you put your name on the label and paste to inside cover of a book.

Stamp size is said to be 1.6" x 2.3", so it seems as though it would be a little small to have been intended for use as a book label.

For whatever it's worth, here's the link where I found this poster stamp listed if it's of any help. (Actually, there are a lot of interesting poster stamps on this site that SCF members might be interested in seeing!):

According to that site, it is a poster stamp. To quote from Wikipedia,

"The poster stamp was an advertising label, a little larger than most postage stamps, that originated in the mid-19th century and quickly became a collecting craze, growing in popularity up until World War One and then declining by World War Two until they are now almost forgotten except by collectors of cinderella stamps."

I'd guess Germany,
the only country that I can recall had a "bib" type
shorts uniform.

Thanks. That sounds like a reasonable guess. I don't know what attracted me to the stamp other than the fact that it provided no information as to who used it or for what purpose. As the above posted website suggests, it was probably a generic stamp that would have been imprinted with a company or club name on it for use as a promotional item in its day.

That would make a neat business-sized card to promote a youth stamp club.
