I have another UAR issue that I cannot find in the Scott catalog. Wondering if this is another of the un-stamps. Can anyone help? Thanks as always - Jeff

Interestingly there's a 1962 version of this Proclamation of the National Charter. Same design except 10m denomination and printed in bright blue and dark brown. At the bottom it just says 'the Charter' with the denomination. It doesn't mention another issue, and certainly nothing in 1963. Sorry, guess that doesn't help you does it? |

Yea james I saw that one and thought I was right on top of it, but I did not make out any arabic in the shield in Scott's and I could not find the 20m, so I was still lost. Thanks for checking though - jeff |

Okay a few responses but the difference between 10m and 20m does not seem to be resolved. Although Huckles888 seems to have the right colors. Is there another SG near 740 that is the right value? - Thanks everyone! |

Jeff, you have stumped SCF it doesn't happen often. That is a toughie....
What has changed between the 10m Egypt is the language in the top scroll, If we can get someone to read that, we may get closer to solving.

Sorry to throw a Spaniard in the works (John Lennon) but Jeff's stamp reads UAR (United Arab Republic) which is Egypt. The Yemen Arab Republic would read YAR. I'm just sayin'. |

While it is true that Syria was part of the UAR at one time, the currency would not be in milliemes. Therefore, it must be Egyptian. |

Found it. Check out the Michel catalog: The 20M value is a revenue stamp (Steuermarke). |

That's the version I was referring to earlier. Note the denomination is wrong, and the text at the bottom of the stamp is different (this one says "the Charter" whereas Jeff's has 1963 and some Arabic script). Also the colours are different. Curiouser and curiouser! |

@james, I know it's the one you were refering to earlier. I'm refering to the added (german) text below the image, which basically says that similar stamps with a 20M denomination are revenue stamps. Pretty sure that's the case with jhlovell's stamp. |
